Position Overview:

The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing quality assurance activities during the 2nd shift to ensure all products meet regulatory and company standards. This role is essential in maintaining food safety, supporting production teams, and fostering a quality-first culture across the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Control and Compliance:

  • Supervise and support QC Technicians during the 2nd shift
  • Reports to QC Managers
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements (USDA, HACCP, GMPs, SQF)
  • Monitor production processes, perform audits, and ensure proper documentation is maintained
  • Investigate and respond to quality issues and non-conformances
  • Conduct daily verification activities of critical control points and prerequisite programs

Collaboration and Problem-Solving:

  • Collaborate with operations, sanitation, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve quality-related problems
  • Support production teams to maintain quality standards throughout the manufacturing process
  • Communicate quality issues and escalate concerns to management when necessary

Training and Development:

  • Conduct training on quality procedures, food safety, and best practices
  • Ensure all team members understand and follow quality protocols
  • Stay current with food safety regulations and industry best practices

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate quality records and documentation
  • Prepare quality reports for management review
  • Assist with internal audit preparations and corrective actions
  • Ensure all quality-related documentation is complete and accurate for shift handover

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field (preferred)
  • 2+ years of quality assurance experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of HACCP, GMPs, and food safety standards
  • Ability to work independently and make quick decisions under pressure
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • SQF knowledge preferred
  • Experience working with USDA inspectors a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Experience in premium meat processing operations beneficial

Working Conditions/Physical Environment:

  • Work is primarily performed in a food production environment
  • Due to refrigeration requirements, the production areas are maintained at temperatures between 34-70F (candidates must be able to work in this environment for 8+ hours per shift)
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods
  • 2nd shift hours (typically 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM)
  • Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends as needed
  • Must be able to work in a safety-sensitive position
