We are seeking a meticulous Quality Control Specialist to join our machining team. In this role, you will ensure that all components meet stringent industry standards by conducting detailed inspections using advanced measuring tools and techniques. You will work closely with machinists, welders, engineers, and other team members to identify and resolve quality issues, maintain documentation for compliance, and support continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate has a strong background in machining or manufacturing, excellent problem-solving skills, and a keen eye for detail to uphold our commitment to precision and excellence across various industrial sectors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Adhere to standardized procedures and instructions for in-process and final inspections across a variety of customized parts and assemblies with very close tolerances and specifications.
- Perform first article inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections of materials and complex precision-machined parts.
- Possess the authority and responsibility to halt machine operations to prevent the continued production of defective parts.
- Collaborate in developing new procedures and quality control practices to ensure the highest quality and efficiency.
- Maintain records and results of quality control forms and documentation.
- Responsible for the calibration of all quality control equipment, hand tools, and gauges.
- Experience with FARO inspection equipment is required.
- Ability to read and interpret various mechanical drawings.
- Familiarity with the use of all inspection gauging, including but not limited to micrometers, thread gauges, dial indicators, vernier calipers, height gauges, internal and external thread gauges, ID/OD micrometers, and bore gauges.
- Preferred experience working in both a machine shop and a job shop environment.
- Coordinate inspection planning for jobs as well coordinating and managing junior QC technicians.
- Proficient in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software.
- Ensure all produced parts comply with customer specifications using tools such as calipers, gauges, and coordinate measuring machines. Interpret, build upon, and adhere to company quality assurance standards. Responsible for reviewing, improving, and creating quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Responsible for completing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
Qualifications
To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education
- High school diploma or GED/HSED, required
- Journeyman, 2-year technical degree or 2-year associates degree, preferred
Experience & Skills
Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible related experience. Specifically, this position requires:
- Exceptional leadership skills, ability to mentor other leaders, and strong communication skills.
- Solid mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with mechanical assembly or trades type environment.
- Knowledge of manual machining and welding, equipment and operations.
- Knowledge of inspection instrumentation and operations.
- Knowledge and understanding of the different types and applications of tooling (drills, taps, reamers, endmills, face mills, single point tooling, etc.).
- Proficient computer-based skills, such as e-mail, outlook, Microsoft excel, word, etc.
- Experience machining, preferred
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. These include forklift traffic, overhead cranes, machining, welding, fumes, airborne particles, moving of mechanical parts and moderate noise. The work is performed indoors in a shop environment both indoors and outdoors.
