Metal Arts LLC is seeking a Quality Control (QC) Manager for the Structural Steel industry to lead our Quality team. Metal Arts is looking for leaders in our industry, who want to make an impact on a growing small business.
As a QC Manager at Metal Arts, you will be responsible for leading the QC team in all aspects of our Quality Department

Quality team members at Metal Arts utilize tablets to record passing and failing fabrications. Metal Arts is a technology focused company always seeking to provide the latest tools and resources for our team.
Qualifications
- Active CWI
- 5+ years experience with AISC, AWS, RCSC
- 5+ years experience in the structural and miscellaneous steel industry
- 2+ years leading a QC department
- 3+ years as the primary AISC manager handling audits
Responsibilities
- Maintain expert knowledge of AWS, AISC and RCSC requirements for Structural Steel
- Lead all AISC audits
o Own and maintain the Quality Manual
o Perform regular internal audits
o Conduct regular QC meetings with Senior Leadership
- Create all necessary WPS
- Conduct and manage testing for all welders
o Instruct fabricators on how to take the test
o Bend coupons and maintain records as required
- Work closely with all Quality team members in order to create a more effective team and utilize shared knowledge to provide the highest level of quality to our customers
- Perform training for all QC team members, from new hires to continuing training for senior team members
o Includes training on AISC, AWS, and RSCS
o Train selected team members for obtaining a CWI
- Maintain high levels of QC acumen for all QC team members
o Quality Inspectors are required to maintain a high level of understanding of AISC standards in order to perform structural inspections properly
o Quality Inspectors are required to maintain a high level of understanding of AWS code in order to inspect welds properly
o Quality Inspectors are required to maintain a high level of understanding of RCSC code in order to inspect bolts properly
o Quality Inspectors are expected to work towards the ability to perform an AISC audit individually
- Spend 6 to 7 hours daily walking the shop and performing inspections
o Inspecting Fabrications for Fit
o Inspecting Fabrications for Weld
o Input information into the MRP system via tablet while performing inspections
- Actively engage fabricators when inspections are failed or nominally passed
o Discuss with the fabricator exactly what was failed and why
o Describe to the fabricator what is required to pass
- Maintain an exceptional understanding of how to read construction drawings and documents
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all weld symbols
- Maintain a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and how they affect quality
- Work closely with Project Managers, Shop Managers, and Detailers on awarded jobs to ensure quality of our steel products
- Adhere to all company policies and maintain a minimum of absences and tardiness
- Maintain a positive attitude and ensure that Metal Arts is a positive environment to work in, free of unnecessary conflicts and issues
