Quality Control Manager (Construction Management)

Position Summary

The Quality Control Manager (CM) is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing quality assurance and quality control policies, programs, and initiatives across multiple trades in construction management projects. This high-travel position requires the employee to be on-site throughout the duration of each project, with opportunities to travel home periodically. The Quality Control Manager will ensure compliance with quality standards, collaborate with project teams, and maintain a positive, team-oriented approach.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct the activities of Quality Control personnel to ensure compliance with contract documents, quality management systems, and applicable standards for various trades in construction management projects.


  • Train and guide quality control inspectors on interpreting technical and quality requirements, including standards such as ASCE, ACI, AISC, ASME, AWS, RCSC, SSPC, and codes for mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and instrumentation systems.


  • Monitor inspection requirements, acceptance criteria, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and quality control record retention.


  • Collaborate with heads of other trades to continuously improve quality and work processes.


  • Administer the Quality Assurance Program for subcontractors and assist the Purchasing Manager in applying it to vendors.


  • Communicate quality requirements to the Purchasing Manager and evaluate procurement sources based on Quality Assurance standards.


  • Conduct surveillance to ensure the effectiveness of the Quality Assurance Program, revising as needed for continuous improvement.


  • Review, revise, approve, and distribute new and existing quality system documents and procedures.


  • Ensure adherence to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.


  • Work extended hours as needed to support smooth project execution.



Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of QA/QC experience in construction management projects involving civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, plumbing, or related trades.


  • Strong familiarity with ASCE, ACI, AISC, ASME, AWS, RCSC, SSPC, and requirements for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.


  • Supervisory experience is required.


  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is a plus.


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Excel.


  • Ability to travel extensively and remain on-site for the duration of projects, with periodic opportunities to return home.


  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.


  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
