What will your role be?

As a Quality Control Inspector, you'll play a vital role in ensuring both supplier performance and product quality meet rigorous operational standards. You will be responsible for evaluating supplier output, driving recovery plans, and maintaining a strong on-site presence to support continuous improvement. Your work will ensure production efficiency, supplier alignment, and customer satisfaction through proactive risk management, inspection, and coordination across suppliers and departments. You will be working closely with suppliers and internal teams involved in superalloy structural casting, ensuring conformity to technical and quality expectations in this critical manufacturing area.


Activities:

  • Conduct both routine and non-routine quality control inspections across various stages of production, including in-process materials, raw materials, and finished products
  • Analyze test results, comparing them against established specifications and control limits, and provide recommendations on data suitability for release
  • Conduct regular assessments of supplier performance, focusing on key metrics such as on-time delivery, quality standards, and production capacity
  • Identify root causes of underperformance, participate actively in investigations of out-of-specification results, and propose corrective and recovery measures
  • Collaborate with supplier management to develop and execute comprehensive recovery plans, ensuring alignment with internal operational goals
  • Track supplier progress and provide regular updates through detailed reports and accurate documentation of interactions, assessments, and corrective actions
  • Maintain a presence at supplier facilities 3 to 5 days a week to oversee operations, provide real-time feedback, and act as the primary liaison between suppliers and internal teams
  • Perform administrative and condition assessments to ensure product conformity to technical guidelines and customer specifications
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential supply chain disruptions, and implement mitigation strategies to minimize operational impact
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between procurement, quality, and logistics teams to address supplier-related challenges
  • Handle quality notifications promptly, report any nonconformities, and verify equipment compliance
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, production deadlines, and budgetary constraints
  • Be adaptable to additional tasks or changes in job scope driven by evolving business needs

What skills and qualifications are we looking for?

  • Associate degree or certification required, with a preference for those in Quality Assurance or Supply Chain
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Quality Control Inspector in the manufacturing inspection industry
  • NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) experience or knowledge is preferred
  • Background in supplier performance improvement, recovery planning, or supply chain management is highly desirable
  • Experience or familiarity with superalloy structural investment casting is strongly preferred
  • Strong arithmetic skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent communication and project management skills with the ability to work independently and make data-driven decisions
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as casting and forging is a plus
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, including sitting, using hands for handling, reaching, occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, and close visual inspection
  • Flexibility and initiative to adapt to evolving challenges and drive effective solutions
  • Work environment typically quiet with occasional moderate noise levels
  • Travel will be 30% - 60% (Potential weekly travel to Burbank, CA)
