Position Summary The Product Test Manager is responsible for the testing of all devices built by and for Public Safety Brands. The Product Test Manager will be responsible for working with Engineering and Product Management as well as third party vendors to create and maintain test plans which provide repeatable testing for validation of performance of the Public Safety Brands portfolio of devices and services. The Product Test Manager will own the testing of all products designed and built by or for Public Safety Brands to ensure that they meet the product requirements and are built to a high-quality standard. This role ensures that all Public Safety Brands devices and services meet the expectation of our clients. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Works with Engineering and Product Management to create, execute, and report on Product Test Plans.
  • Owns relationship with third party vendors who work to build products for Public Safety Brands under an OEM relationship to verify that products meet all
Public Safety Brands requirements and specifications.
  • Execute and own product testing to ensure devices meet minimum performance standards.
  • Works closely with Public Safety Brands Support and Client Success to help address and identify issues reported by Public Safety Brands clients.
  • Define product testing strategy and development of forward-looking testing methods.
  • Translate product strategy into detailed testing requirements (Market Requirement Document / Product Requirement Document, etc.).
  • Schedule beta and pilot testing programs with pre-production minimum performance criteria.
  • Identify areas for improvement to product line roadmaps based on interactions with the clients and support teams.
  • Scope and prioritize testing activities based on business and customer impact.
  • Collect, manage, and maintain traceability of testing for all stakeholders across product releases.
  • Serve as an in-house expert for Public Safety Brands products. Be the go-to person for all functional issues and questions.
  • Conduct technical product benchmarks and competitive analyses to feed marketing/sales activities.
  • Ability to pass and maintain FBI and State Criminal Justice Information Security (CJIS) background checks and certifications.
  • Must be able to maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must meet the qualifications to drive a company vehicle and be insurable on the company's automobile coverage.
  • Keep abreast of industry changes and competitive products.
  • Make creative recommendations to expand the product base and vision.
  • Travel: Up to 50% (40% Decatur Office; 10% Raleigh Office; 50% Work from Home) depending on client and company needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in product testing of Public Safety Brands (or competitor) devices.
  • Strong technical background with an understanding of hardware, software, and web technologies.
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of successful product testing throughout its lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to develop product plans and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and complete tasks in an organized, efficient, and effective manner while being flexible to changing demands.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Effective at working cross-functionally with product, engineering, support, and client account teams while fostering a collaborative and supportive culture. Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to quickly establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment, solid decision-making skills, and good business acumen.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
Must be able to perform under a high-stress, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a calm, confident demeanor.
