Position Overview
The Quality Manager is responsible for evaluating and maintaining quality systems and ensuring adherence to industry and internal standards throughout the plant. This role directly supports manufacturing operations, continuous improvement initiatives, and product development processes, while also playing a critical role in customer satisfaction and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and documentation of material capabilities to align with evolving customer requirements and market trends.
- Collaborate across departments-Sales, Planning, Operations, and Technical Services-to support product design and manufacturing according to APQP procedures.
- Participate in trials for new products and processes to validate technical performance and manufacturability.
- Conduct quality audits and review operating procedures for compliance with internal quality systems and industry standards such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
- Analyze defect codes and rejection data, generate reports, and propose corrective actions.
- Use statistical tools to evaluate processes and recommend improvements or negotiate quality agreements with customers.
- Provide solutions to technical issues and help shape departmental procedures to enhance performance and reliability.
- Maintain affiliations with relevant professional organizations (e.g., ASTM, ASNT) to stay current with industry best practices.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management within a production or processing environment.
- Background in steel, metalworking, or fabrication is a strong advantage.
- Familiar with ISO/IATF quality systems; internal or lead auditor experience preferred.
- Proficient in Core Tools: SPC, PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Effective at influencing cross-functional teams and working across departments to meet goals.
Additional Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong mathematical skills, including knowledge of probability, statistics, geometry, and algebra.
- Adept at defining problems, analyzing data, and implementing sound decisions under pressure.
- Comfortable working in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of learning ERP systems.
