Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team in Baltimore, MD. This role involves overseeing and executing manual functional/regression testing, ensuring the quality of our software systems through meticulous testing procedures. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in quality control methods and tools, collaborating closely with project teams and stakeholders to uphold rigorous testing standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough quality review walkthroughs of business requirements documentation.
Collaborate with vendors and subject matter experts (SMEs) on unit testing processes.
Act as a senior technical resource in QA, overseeing test plans, cases, and scripts across project teams.
Interact effectively with Developers, Business Analysts, System Administrators, SMEs, and other team members.
Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to validate IT processes and maximize business investments in IT initiatives.
Establish and implement quality assurance measures and testing standards for new applications and product enhancements throughout their lifecycles.
Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives addressing IT system and project areas.
Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to established QA standards and documentation.
Design and execute manual test plans, cases, and scripts for integrated systems and user acceptance testing.
Develop and maintain defect management processes, analyzing formal test results to identify and report defects and configuration issues.
Collaborate with software/systems personnel on various testing methods including system, unit, regression, load, and acceptance testing.
Communicate test progress, results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders.
Ensure new software integration into MDOT and MDTA systems meets functional requirements and technical specifications.
Assist in developing change control processes and guidelines for new and existing technologies.
Participate in in-depth end-user reviews for modified and new systems or applications.
Foster and disseminate knowledge of quality assurance best practices across the organization.
Verify and revise quality assurance standards as necessary.
Provide strategic quality plans in targeted organizational areas, ensuring consistency with industry standards and customer requirements.
Develop and implement lifecycle and QA methodologies and metrics.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in manual functional/regression testing, design, and execution.
Minimum of 5 years of experience working with quality control methods and tools.
Certification(s) such as CSTE, CSQA, ISTQB CTFL, CQIA, CTM, CSTP, or equivalent industry certification preferred.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Experience in software development lifecycle methodologies and QA best practices.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
