Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor a team of laboratory analysts.
  • Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Oversee all analytical testing activities within assigned team.
  • Conduct routine testing of RM, FP, IP using wet-chemistry and instrumental analysis techniques.
  • Ensure adherence to established protocols, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve analytical data, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments (HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs.
  • Ensure proper documentation of instrument usage and maintenance.
  • Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results and deviations.
  • Identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to address quality issues.
  • Ensure accurate and complete record-keeping.
  • Review and approve laboratory notebooks, reports, and certificates of analysis.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Analyze trends in laboratory data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement process enhancements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Drive a culture of continuous learning and development.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry along with at least 5 years of experience in Analytical testing within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • A Master's degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Analytical testing within the pharmaceutical industry.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):
  • Strong understanding of cGMP, GLP, and laboratory compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead others and work with management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Strong technical writing skills and the ability to create technical documentation.
  • Ability to interpret and apply Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, technical, organizational, planning, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of chemical analysis and concepts.
  • Experience with HPLC, GC, FAA, FTIR, and compendia analytical chemistry testing.
  • Familiarity with LIMS EM modules.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and data trending.
