POSITION SUMMARY: The QA Technician assures that the plant is compliant with Food Safety, Food Quality, and regulatory requirements and reports deficiencies or practices that could compromise food safety, quality and food defense. Reports directly to the QA Supervisor, or QA Manager

PRIMARY DUTIES:Continuously monitor facility activities to ensure compliance with GMP, Food Safety, Food Quality, and Food Defense standards Ensure all parameters of food safety and quality are being adhered to and maintained throughout the facility. Perform analysis using analytical equipment to assure product specifications are met Monitor, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment (i.e. metal detectors, scales, colorimeters, and moisture meters) Collect in-process and finished product samples and submit to 3rd party lab Perform Pre-Operational inspections and swab equipment to verify effectiveness of sanitation activities Perform aseptic sampling for microbiological / environmental monitoring Conduct Allergen testing on finished product, raw materials, and equipment Review product labeling and codes Identify and isolate product that does not meet standards Recognize deficiencies and initiate proper follow-up Follow protocols for documenting testing results Aid in troubleshooting deficiencies and non-conformances. Review food safety and quality records. Actively participate in plant teams (HACCP, Safety, etc.) Assist with batching chemicals/ingredients for production Conduct other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:College degree (preferred) in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience 1 years experience in Food Manufacturing QA Must possess a basic understanding of chemical, microbiological, and mathematical analysis Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office applications) and computer-based applications Bi-lingual in Spanish (preferred) Ability to evaluate sensory attributes of product against target. Document results of testing on Quality Assurance Logs. Effectively communicate results of test with production workers, supervisors and managers. Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to details. Ability to work under pressure (in an extremely fast paced environment), meet deadlines (work overtime as required) and make effective decisions
