Quality Assurance Analyst / Manual Tester
Overview:
Akumen is seeking a skilled QA Analyst/Manual Tester experience to join our innovative team supporting a high-functioning development team at the Department of State. The team is looking for a mid-level QA Analyst with knowledge and exposure to automation testing frameworks and testing tools.

Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement various types of testing (e.g., regression, manual, functional, data validation, system integration, load, or performance tests) for new and existing functionality.
- Work closely with development teams to design testing strategies and integrate testing into the development process.
- Plan, create, execute, and automate test cases, collaborating with business partners, developers, and other stakeholders.
- Document and analyze test results and recommend corrective actions.
- Isolate, reproduce, manage, and maintain defects and test case databases, and verify fixes.
- Support user acceptance testing conducted by business partners or end users.
- Conduct exploratory testing and risk analysis for complex features, especially those that span across platforms or teams.
- Define and champion quality and testing best practices among development team in an Agile environment.
- Collaborate and share information with other software QA engineers.
- Write test cases, map out test scenarios, design reusable automated test scripts, and execute tests daily.
- Test solutions in terms of functionality, performance, reliability, stability, and compatibility with other legacy and/or external systems.
- Work closely with developers, professional services team, and product owners to define the testing components to validate requirements against developed software.
- Identify test requirements from specifications, map test case requirements, and design test coverage plans.
- Identify any potential quality issues per the defined process and escalate potential quality issues immediately to management.
- Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements.
- Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or related discipline, or equivalent related experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in manual testing in a full lifecycle / agile environment.
- 1-2 years of experience in automation testing, including testing methodologies, tools, and best practice.
- Experience testing, configuring, and/or customizing applications built on the ServiceNow platform.
- Experience writing test automation scripts.
- Experience designing and implementing test plans.
- Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Puppet, Playwright).
- Attention to detail and ability to identify, isolate, and document defects.
- Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of agile practices and experience with agile planning tools (e.g., Jira).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables.
- Experience in Quality Management Software and Processes.
- Knowledge and experience in technical aspects of testing software solutions.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in Java programming and SQL.
- Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
- Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI).
- Understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
Clearance Requirement:
- Must have Active DoD secret clearance verified in JPAS. Top Secret preferred.
