Python Software Engineer - Data Platform
Seattle, WA (hybrid)

Pay Range: $55.00 - $75.00per hr

Job Description:
We're looking for a Python Software Engineer with a strong interest in data platform technologies to join our growing data infrastructure team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with seasoned data engineers and product managers to build, maintain, and enhance a scalable platform that powers data-driven decision-making. You'll be part of a team shaping the backbone of our data ecosystem, supporting business-critical analytics, machine learning, and automation initiatives. Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and enhance scalable data platform components and systems
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Create and maintain data workflows and pipelines using modern orchestration tools
  • Support data transformation logic and documentation using frameworks like dbt
  • Contribute to the automation of data validation and quality checks
  • Write clean, testable code and participate in code reviews
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across data systems and integrations
  • Continuously explore ways to improve platform performance, reliability, and developer experience
Required Skills:
  • Foundational experience in Python software engineering or backend development
  • Interest or exposure to cloud-based data platforms, particularly AWS
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn tools such as Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow
  • Basic understanding of data modeling, data quality principles, and ETL processes
  • Introductory experience or coursework in Python
  • Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in a collaborative environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Bonus/Soft Skills:
  • Exposure to distributed data systems such as Kafka, Spark, or Dask
  • Hands-on experience with metadata management or data governance concepts
  • Familiarity with data visualization or dashboarding tools like Tableau
  • Interest in personal finance, fintech, or consumer-facing data products
  • Experience working in agile or cross-functional teams
