Purchasing Specialist at Central Office

Job Summary:

This position is for Purchasing Specialist; 12 month position nonaffiliated .

Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years' experience in a public or charter school Purchasing and Accounts Payable position with strong knowledge of NJ Purchasing Laws and procedures.
  • Previous experience utilizing school Budgetary Accounting Software (Systems 3000 preferred).
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and budget, financial and record keeping.
  • Excellent multi-tasking, analytical and problem solving abilities in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, detail oriented and thorough.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Pre-employment criminal history background check, proof of U.S. Citizenship or legal resident alien status, substance abuse test and medical exam required.

Responsibilities:
  • Process invoices and all purchase orders for the school district after required approvals.
  • Coordinate with staff and outside agencies/vendors to ensure district orders are fulfilled.
  • Maintain database of open purchase orders and generate reports and other required information.
  • Resolve shipments in error with suppliers.
  • Prepare monthly bill list for Board Meetings.
  • Follow up with vendors and staff to review status of purchase orders and payments.
  • Maintain confidentiality utilizing various district accounts in processing purchase orders.
  • Create recurring and close outstanding purchase orders for year end rollover.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Business Administrator or Superintendent of Schools.

Salary commensurate with experience
