Purchasing/Inventory Manager Position The Purchasing and Inventory Manager position will manage the company-wide purchasing/inventory activities with the overall responsibility of creating and maintaining strategic purchasing processes and initiatives. They will oversee the procurement of all materials and supplies necessary to support the needs and requirements of the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze forecast to place orders accordingly with enough lead-time period
- Develop, lead, execute and refine purchasing strategies including forecasting techniques and adaptability
- Initiate creative cost reduction initiatives through efficient and economic supplier base, standardization of materials, value analysis, etc.
- Assure that policies and procedures concerning the receipt and counting of inventory are followed by all team members in the warehouse
- Communicate to other departments in regard to changes and implementation in procurement processes.
- Resolve vendor problems, misunderstandings, or complaints through negotiation and professional communication to secure a mutually beneficial resolution
- Implement and analyze reports relating to purchasing KPIs, sales history, trends.
- Coordinate with marketing department on inventory levels and product launches.
- Create Standardized Operating Procedures (SOP) for job functions.
- Work with Marketing and Sales to coordinate new packaging with suppliers. This will include coordinating with all global entities for full implementation.
- Analyze and prepare recommendations as to policy, procedural improvements, forecasts, and projects. Research and maintain executive members informed of market conditions, trends, and probable effect on supply and price of materials
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and management
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must have a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, economics, or related field. Minimum of five years' work experience in purchasing related fields preferred. Certified purchasing manager (CPM) preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors.
- Knowledge of purchasing/inventory policies, processes and procedures
- Must be able to adapt to changes.
- Must pay strong attention to detail
- Demonstrate aptitude and precision working with numbers
- Knowledge and the ability to negotiate best vendor terms and pricing.
- Ability to develop professional relationships with outside vendors.
- Proficient keyboarding skills.
- Extremely organized and able to perform job functions with little or no supervision in a timely manner with acceptable quality.
- Ability to learn new software/processes.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
