Monitor and comply with applicable laws and customs regulations for importing and exporting foreign cars to and from the Middle East, Gulf region, and South Africa to the U.S.
Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for cars, parts and services.
Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with vehicle suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
Purchase the highest quality foreign cars from the Middle East, Gulf region, and South Africa at the lowest possible price and in the correct quantities.
Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other relevant data to determine reasonable pricing. Compare auction prices and evaluate transportation costs, which frequently vary by provider, to identify the most cost-effective options. Negotiate the best transportation and insurance rates in compliance with regulations. Coordinate with banks for financing solutions to support procurement activities.
Formulate policies and procedures for bid proposals and procurement of foreign cars and related services.
Maintain and review computerized or manual records of purchased items, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories.
Research and evaluate suppliers, based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the suppliers reputation and history.
Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable cars, parts or services and determine corrective action.
Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and identify the need for any changes.
Monitor shipments to ensure that cars or car parts come in on time, and resolve problems related to undelivered goods.
Coordinate with customers at U.S. customs ports to ensure smooth handling of vehicles and arrange transportation logistics within the U.S. and internationally for timely car delivery.
Review foreign car specifications and maintain a working technical knowledge of the foreign cars to be purchased.
Review catalogs, industry periodicals, directories, trade journals, and internet sites, and consult with other department personnel to locate necessary cars and spare parts.
Monitor changes affecting supply and demand by tracking market conditions, price trends, and futures markets.
Interview vendors and visit suppliers plants and distribution centers to examine and gain knowledge about cars, parts, and prices. Arrange the payment of duty and freight charges.
Attend meetings, trade shows, conferences, conventions, and seminars to network with people in other purchasing departments.
Hours: 40 hours per week
Daily Work Schedule: Mon through Fri from 8:00 a.m. to 5p.m. (1hr lunch)
Experience:
2 years of experience as an Assistant Export and Import Manager or a closely related occupation.
Skills:
Evaluate and select suppliers to ensure an optimal balance of price, quality, and reliability.
Manage shipping partnerships and coordinate end-to-end export/import processes to ensure cost efficiency and timely delivery.
Oversee and manage customs clearance procedures for imported goods, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and timely processing
Bachelors degree (or its foreign equivalent) in Business Administration, Accounting or a related subject matter.
