  • Typical Expectations: Manage ICU patients with acute or chronic respiratory failure, sepsis, multi-organ dysfunction, and other critical conditions.
  • Perform procedures such as:
    • Endotracheal intubation
    • Arterial line placement
    • Central venous catheter placement
    • Thoracentesis and paracentesis
  • Interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., ABGs, chest X-rays, CT scans, pulmonary function tests).
  • Outpatient Pulmonary Care:
    • Evaluate and manage chronic conditions such as COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, and sleep apnea.
    • Educate patients on disease management, smoking cessation, and oxygen therapy.
  • Emergency Response: Participate in rapid response and code blue teams.
