We are looking for a motivated Public Sector Account Executive to expand our footprint within state and local governments, and higher education. With the help of this Account Executive, Canary has the power to be an essential tool for state and local governments and higher education institutions.
As part of our sales team, you will be our first public sector sales executive with the opportunity for significant leadership opportunities as we grow and scale the team. You will establish and execute scalable processes to identify and engage prospective government and higher ed customers, nurture relationships, and close deals to drive revenue growth. You will be a subject-matter expert on Procurated's value proposition and unique selling points. This is an ideal role for a candidate who can quickly demonstrate success and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
This role is ideal for a results-driven professional with at least 3 years of direct sales experience and consistency achieving and exceeding quota, particularly in SaaS, government procurement, or B2B technology sales with public sector and/or higher education customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to grow Procurated's presence in the public sector.
- Identify and prospect government and higher education procurement professionals and decision-makers.
- Conduct outreach via calls, emails, and virtual/in-person meetings to generate and nurture leads.
- Uncover customer business objectives, pain points, and project requirements to educate prospective customers on the value of Procurated's Canary platform and how it enhances procurement processes.
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to close, ensuring a smooth onboarding experience for new clients and hand off to Account Managers.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to optimize outreach and customer engagement.
- Collaborate with the Product team to advise on customer feedback and use it to support ongoing product developments.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities and pipeline in Hubspot.
- Stay informed on government procurement trends, policies, and challenges to position Procurated effectively.
- Attend industry events as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of direct sales experience, preferably in selling SaaS into government and/or higher education customers.
- Experience selling a SAAS/technology product.
- Comfort selling independently without a large-scale support team.
- Proven ability to build relationships and sell to public sector customers.
- Willingness and ability to be in-office in Washington DC at least 2x per week.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet sales targets.
- Experience using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) to track sales activity.
- Strong understanding of government procurement processes and decision-making structures is a plus.

- Compensation: The base salary range for this role is $80,000 - $110,000 based on experience, plus equity and commission.
