We are actively recruiting for Public Relations Supervisor to lead our communications team. The team consists of staff responsible for public affairs, website oversight and social media, community outreach and tribal engagement, as well as overseeing the agency's public record request processing. This position reports to the agency's Public Policy and Government Affairs Officer under DEQ's Director, within the Director's Office. The position is challenging and rewarding -the Public Relations Supervisor will be at the forefront of Montana environmental and energy communications. This position goes beyond public relations and communication; your ability to lead people will be equally in demand. As Public Relations Supervisor, your responsibilities include: Communication Strategy & Agency Brand In collaboration with communications staff, develop a comprehensive strategic communication plan. Manage the development of informational and promotional materials about the agency and programs. Oversee the agency brand and quality assurance of brand materials. Agency Representation Represent the agency to internal and external stakeholders, such as agency programs, media, or general public. Work with management team and programs to Develop and/or deliver talking points for press releases. Information Requests Coordinate and respond to information requests and oversee the agency records and information request program. Leadership Lead the communications team by modeling agency values. Demonstrate accountability, excellence, efficiency, and effectiveness with employees while being highly organized leading a diverse workgroup. Calm throughout stressful situations, our Public Relations Supervisor will possess strong emotional intelligence in often contentious situations. A sense of humor and a lighthearted demeanor is always welcome. Finally, the successful candidate will have strong writing skills. The position includes a career ladder for professional development and pay progression. Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, communications, journalism, public policy or a related field or equivalent education. Three years of progressively responsible experience including demonstrated leadership or supervision, may include experience from informal roles, and proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Preferred experience with business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, setting priorities, human resources management, leadership techniques, coordination of people and resources, and communication skills focused on stakeholder outreach.
