Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant is a self-starting professional who is comfortable using analytics and performs daily financial and accounting tasks. Their main duties will include data entry and analysis, compiling reports, and facilitating the timely and accurate production of financial data and reporting.
Reports to the CFO
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all operational management accounts
- Record accounts payable/accounts receivable transactions and perform month-end reconciliation
- Prepare assigned general ledger account reconciliations and verify the accuracy of data
- Assist with reviewing of expenses, payments etc. as assigned
- Prepare or update periodic reports of financial status information - expenses, sales, etc.
- Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules
- Maintain accounting/corporate records by maintaining a paperless filing and retrieval system ensuring past and current records are available as needed
- Assist with other accounting tasks or projects as needed
- Prepare annual 1099 filing
Qualifications and Experience:
- A good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
- Respects and understands the need for internal controls
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality
- Ability to prioritize tasks to meet reporting deadlines
- Excellent time management and organizational ability
- Ability to compile professional and thorough accounting reports
- Familiarity with accounting software and programs (Netsuite a plus)
- Comfortable with technology and have a working knowledge of MS Office Suite (specifically excel)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with various levels of employees
- Team player with a positive communication style
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively via phone conversations, written communication via email and formal letters, as well as in-person meetings
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Maintain/Uphold accounting controls in compliance with company rules and federal & state regulations, US GAAP, and IFRS
