Job Title: Psychology Professional Lead - Specialist Services

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide a range of services including acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health care to a population of over 1.15 million, extending to 2.2 million with regional and national services.

We are seeking a permanent, full-time Band B8d Psychology Professional Lead for Specialist Services (part-time hours considered). The role involves providing professional and clinical leadership to Practitioner Psychologists and Psychological Therapists within our adult mental health services, which include Early Intervention in Psychosis, Eating Disorders, Perinatal Mental Health, Psychiatric Liaison, and Unscheduled Care. As services evolve, additional teams may be included.

The successful candidate will oversee the psychology governance infrastructure, work closely with Consultant Psychologists/Leads, and be a key member of the Specialist Services Senior Management Team. Responsibilities include offering psychological advice, workforce planning, and staff wellbeing support. The role also includes clinical sessions, negotiable across services with the Head of Service and Psychology Lead.

Applicants must be HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologists with significant experience as a Consultant in secondary care adult mental health. Leadership experience and service development skills are essential; operational line management experience is desirable.

The post reports to the Head of Service for Specialist Services, with professional leadership from the Psychology Professional Lead for NHS GG&C. The postholder will join the Psychology Professional Leads Group (PPLG), contributing to workforce development and clinical training initiatives.
