CFG Health Network is seeking a dedicated and experienced Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director for the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit at St. Michael's Medical Center, a respected community hospital in Newark, NJ. This is a Full time leadership role focused on overseeing the clinical and administrative operations of the adult inpatient psychiatric service, ensuring high standards of patient care, compliance, and collaborative team functioning.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direct psychiatric care to adult inpatients, including evaluations, medication management, and treatment planning.

Serve as the primary clinical leader of the inpatient psychiatric unit, overseeing all medical and clinical activities.

Collaborate with the hospital administration, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary teams to support quality improvement initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance.

Supervise and provide guidance to attending psychiatrists, advanced practice nurses (APNs), residents (if applicable), and clinical staff.

Participate in case conferences, utilization review, and patient flow coordination.

Lead performance improvement efforts and contribute to program development.

Ensure timely documentation in the electronic medical record and compliance with hospital and CFG policies.

Qualifications

MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry

Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of New Jersey

Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience in inpatient psychiatry preferred

Prior leadership or medical director experience strongly preferred

DEA license and CDS certification

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Commitment to collaborative and compassionate care
