Psychiatrist -Harm Reduction Coordinator(HRC)/Substance Use Disorder(SUD)
Harm Reduction Coordinator (HRC)/substance use disorder (SUD) Psychiatrist is aligned under the Chief of Psychiatry and is a bargaining unit employee. HRC/SUD Psychiatrist provides care in accordance with the VA goals of high-quality, Veteran-centered healthcare that embraces the recovery model. Incumbent evaluates Veterans' mental health symptoms, including SUD and other addictions, and provides diagnostic evaluation, medication initiations, ongoing medication follow up, monitoring of responses to medication trials, and provide mental health interventions as needed. They can also conduct lethality assessments, determining appropriateness of medication trials, supportive counseling, further assessment, and follow up. Additionally, they take inpatient call ass assigned. HRC/SUD Psychiatrist functions in a collaborative fashion with behavioral health team members, other departments, and medical staff members to provide primary SUD behavioral health services.

EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
Work Schedule: 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
- Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatry
- Substance use treatment experience preferred.
