Qualification Requirements: Temporary/Relief Licensed Psychiatric Technicians assigned to Correctional facilities must have the minimum experience outlined below: 1. Twelve (12) continuous months of experience within the last three (3) years performing services similar in scope to those defined herein in a public or private institution. Internships do not count towards the required experience. 2. Possess and maintain while providing services to the Correctional facilities a current and valid license issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurses and Psychiatric Technicians in order to perform services in the State of California. 3. Any Temporary/Relief Psychiatric Technicians providing services through this Agreement must be proficient in the English language and be able to communicate effectively with the Correctional facilities /CCHCS. All Temporary/Relief Psychiatric Technicians must be able to speak, understand oral and written communication and write effectively in the English language. Any Temporary/Relief Psychiatric Technicians who fails to meet the minimum qualifications shall not be permitted to perform services. Service Delivery Requirements: 1. Under the direction of the Institution's CEO/CNE or designee, the Temporary Relief Psychiatric Technician shall provide services as permitted within the scope of practice for Psychiatric Technicians in accordance with Institution/Facility policies and procedures. 2. The duties of the Temporary/Relief Psychiatric Technician shall include, but are not limited to the following requirements: 3. Give a basic level of general behavioural and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or developmentally disabled patients/youth. 4. Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitoring of patients/youth with signs and symptoms of mental illness. 5. Under general supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Doctor (MD), perform psychiatric nursing procedures, such as administer medications and treatments, including hypodermic injections, take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration, and all other basic general nursing procedures within the scope of licensure. 6. Work with other disciplines as part of the Treatment Team in the development of treatment plans and objectives from assessments in providing an overall treatment program for patient/youth. 7. Assist in the development of group and individual therapy regimens. Act as a provider of group therapy to patient/youth. 8. Provide liaison activities with custody personnel in management of mentally or developmentally disabled patient/youth. 9. Observe patients'/youths' physical condition and behavior, and report significant changes. 10. Prepare and coordinate clinical appointment dates and times, and assist in having patient/youth present at their clinical appointments. 11. Assist in first responder duties, such as giving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and first aid as needed. 12. Follow completely and accurately all documentation procedures as required by the Correctional Facilities/CCHCS. 13. Help to create a safe, secure and therapeutic environment for patients/youth.
