Pay $20.00 - $23.00 an hourThe Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist (PRS) provides self-directed recovery supports essential for individuals to develop, refine, or maintain the skills needed to navigate the complexities of daily life.
Core Responsibilities - Maintain a case load that focuses on client facing activities 60% of assigned work time.
- Perform primary psychiatric rehabilitation including screening, intake, orientation, evaluation, referral, patient education, case management, reporting and record keeping, discharge planning, and consultation with other professionals.
- Assist individuals in developing the skills needed to fully participate in the community, build connections, and establish natural supports.
- Help clients identify, work towards, and achieve long-term goals across various aspects of their lives, including social, emotional, educational, and vocational development.
- Collaborate with clients to identify and refine treatment goals, ensuring a holistic approach to health-related services.
- Support clients in managing household tasks, completing paperwork and applications, communicating effectively with family, friends, coworkers, and others, and advocating for themselves'
- Guide clients in finding and utilizing additional resources and supports, including transportation, appointments, and grocery shopping.
- Assist clients with dietary and wellness education, including meal planning, healthy shopping, meal preparation, and nutrition awareness
- Provide employment services to help clients pursue, secure, and retain employment as part of their chosen life role goals.
- Actively participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to comprehensive client care.
- Continuously assess clients' progress towards recovery, evaluating their functional skills and levels of impairment.
- Assist with the training of staff, volunteers, and student interns as assigned.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the biopsychosocial process of substance use disorders, behavioral health, self-help group processes, and counseling principles.
- Maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, and the professional community while upholding confidentiality standards.
Qualifications - Associate Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- One to three years of employment experience working with individuals with substance use and serious mental health disorders.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
- Exhibit exemplary knowledge of the biopsychosocial process of substance use disorders/recovery, behavioral health, self-help group processes, and principles of motivational interviewing.
- Valid New York State Driver's License required.
