Title Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Department Provider Supervisor Chief Medical Officer Job Type Full-Time FLSA Status Exempt Pay Range $108,000 - $120,000 Schedule Monday - Friday Work Location West Clinic Apply Now Duties and Responsibilities 1. Work collaboratively with a physician and/or mental health provider of record (if one exists) to provide comprehensive adult and adolescent mental health services. 2. Through patient evaluation, determine a differential diagnosis and plan for intervention. 3. Adhere to standards via identified text and/or via office practice standard protocols. 4. Maintain a customer-oriented approach to meeting patient needs expediently, involving the familyin the plan of care as appropriate. 5. Maintain confidentiality and patient privacy. 6. Document care provided; meeting standards for quarterly chart reviews. 7. Seek consultations as appropriate and act asa consultant as requested. 8. Facilitate the process of ethical decision-making as appropriate. 9. Perform comprehensive assessments and refer patients for further care and services within the larger community. 10. Utilize teaching-learning theory with patients and their families to influence patient outcomes. 11. Identify the learning needs of various populations and contribute to the development of educational programs to meet those needs. 12. Identify system-specific problems that require evaluation and/or change; work with appropriate staff to resolve these issues by participating in performance improvement processes. 13. Takes an active role in contributing to improving office functioning. 14. Maintains professional courtesy at all times. 15. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Knowledge of advanced principles of health promotion, prevention and motivation Knowledge of protocols in general and an ability to quickly gain specific knowledge of the Center's current operational protocols Knowledge of medical terminology and appropriate abbreviations Demonstrates knowledge of the Texas Medical Practice Act Ability to document, with clarity, all information relevant to a patient's needs Ability to effectively present information in small group situations to patients, Center staff, and the general public Ability to use office equipment including but not limited to computers, fax machines, telephones and copiers Preferred Spanish speaking and writing skills Credentials and Experience Required Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with an Advance Practice Nursing degree in Psychiatry. Current certification from the Texas Board of Nursing Examiners to practice as an Advance Practice Nurse -Family Nurse Practitioner in the State of Texas Annual continuing education as required by Board specialty Must be registered and have current DEA, DPS and other such certificates to legally operate as an Advance Nurse Practitioner in the State of Texas Hospital privileges at designated area hospitals if required for specialty Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Professionals Certification Preferred One (1) year of practice experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner giving direct patient care Special Requirements The employee must be able to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination. Requires sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires frequent exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
