We are seeking a skilled Psychiatrist for a 240-day locum tenens assignment at a Clinic in New Mexico, starting September 1, 2025. The ideal candidate will work Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This role involves providing outpatient behavioral health services, with a focus on treating patients suffering from substance abuse, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and related disorders. The psychiatrist will be responsible for Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) patients, requiring extensive experience in this area. Using the Nextgen system, the provider will manage a diverse caseload of behavioral health patients in an outpatient setting. This long-term opportunity offers a chance to make a significant impact in a community with high behavioral health needs and potential for extension.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient psychiatric care
  • Manage patients with substance abuse disorders, PTSD, depression, and anxiety
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and develop treatment plans
  • Prescribe and manage medications, including for MAT patients
  • Offer psychotherapy and counseling as needed
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals in a multidisciplinary approach
  • Utilize Nextgen system for patient management and record-keeping
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices in psychiatric care
  • Participate in team meetings and case discussions
  • Stay updated on the latest developments in psychiatry and addiction medicine
  • Provide patient and family education on mental health and substance abuse issues

Additional Information:

  • Active New Mexico medical license required
  • Board certification in Psychiatry
  • Extensive experience in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is mandatory
  • Familiarity with Nextgen EMR system preferred
  • Strong clinical skills in managing complex behavioral health cases
  • Excellent communication skills for patient and team interactions
  • Ability to work independently in an outpatient setting
