We are seeking a skilled Psychiatrist for a 140-day locum tenens assignment at a forensic inpatient hospital in Missouri. The ideal candidate will provide care for severely mentally ill patients, starting 06/16/2025. This role involves managing an average of 40 patients across two wards, with diagnoses including Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders, Substance Abuse Disorders, and Paraphilia. The position requires a 40-hour work week, with no on-call, weekend, or holiday duties unless desired. Responsibilities include monthly patient visits, completing patient notes, and managing NGRI and SVP status patients. This opportunity offers a chance to work in a specialized setting with potential for extension.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide psychiatric care for severely mentally ill patients
  • Manage an average caseload of 40 patients across two wards
  • Conduct monthly patient visits and additional visits as needed
  • Complete patient notes, including monthly summaries and annual reviews
  • Assess and manage patients with NGRI (Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity) and SVP (Sexually Violent Predator) status
  • Diagnose and treat various mental health conditions, including Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders, and Substance Abuse Disorders
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
  • Adhere to all facility protocols and safety procedures

Additional Information:

  • Active Missouri medical license required
  • Experience in forensic psychiatry preferred
  • Strong ability to work independently and make clinical decisions
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and staff
