The Prospect Research Manager will play a key role in identifying and analyzing potential donors to support the mission of the Zion National Park Forever Project (ZFP). This position is responsible for building and maintaining a donor research program, database management, and financial tracking to ensure data integrity and informed fundraising efforts. The role requires strong analytical skills, wealth screening experience, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

The Forever Project's headquarters are in Zion National Park. The Prospect Research Manager position is located in the philanthropy office in Hurricane, UT.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The Prospect Research Manager is responsible for the following:


PROSPECT RESEARCH & DONOR IDENTIFICATION (40%)

  • Conduct in-depth research on prospective donors using data tools, wealth screening software, and address tracking systems.
  • Analyze donor giving capacity and philanthropic interests to identify top potential contributors.
  • Develop profiles on high-priority prospects and provide actionable insights for the development team.
  • Work closely with fundraising teams to prioritize outreach efforts based on donor potential.

DATABASE MANAGEMENT & DATA INTEGRITY (30%)

  • Ensure the accuracy, cleanliness, and integrity of donor records by managing data entry, tracking, and reporting.
  • Maintain an up-to-date system that captures all contributions, donor engagements, and granting records.
  • Generate and maintain reports for internal stakeholders, including weekly finance updates and monthly board reports.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to reconcile donations and grants.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of the prospect research database to meet ZFP's unique needs.

REPORTING & MOVES MANAGEMENT (20%)

  • Track and analyze donor trends, campaign effectiveness, and engagement metrics (e.g., open rates, response rates).
  • Assist in segmenting donor lists and monitoring donation trends to support strategic outreach.
  • Work with leadership to hold the team accountable for donor engagement goals and budget alignment.
  • Support grant reporting by tracking expenses and aligning financial records with donor funding.

ADMINISTRATIVE & CROSS-DEPARTMENTAL COLLABORATION (10%)

  • Serve as a liaison between the fundraising and finance teams, ensuring smooth communication and data-sharing.
  • Assist in budget tracking and financial oversight related to donor contributions.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for improving prospect research and donor cultivation strategies.

KEYS TO SUCCESS (THE MUST-HAVES)

To be successful in this job, you will excel in these areas:


Hard skills:

  • 2-3 years of experience in nonprofit prospect research required.
  • -Strong experience with wealth screening software and donor research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Raiser's Edge, LGL).
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to manage large datasets.
