This is a technical sales / proposals position, with a mechanical bias based in Ely, Cambridgeshire, offering full-time, permanent hours with a competitive salary and benefits package.
The role involves contributing to all aspects of the customer journey, from initial enquiry to project solutions, costings, and final proposal preparation.
You will be essential in converting opportunities into sales, using your mechanical knowledge to understand structural limitations and assist in cost estimations.
In this dynamic role, your responsibilities will include:
- Creating project solutions tailored to client needs, including general arrangements, costing estimates, and proposal documents.
- Generating BOMs and project cost estimates.
- Ensuring timely delivery of proposals with proper documentation.
- Organising and leading proposal review meetings.
- Clarifying cost calculations and highlighting risks to minimise them.
- Understanding and managing commercial risks within proposals.
- Continuously improving technical and costing processes.
- Utilising existing purchased/design items for new project solutions.
- Managing bid/quotation preparations for submission.
- Facilitating internal sign-off procedures for formal offers.
- Handing over proposals to sales for further negotiation.
You should have strong commercial acumen to prepare technical and commercial proposals, with experience in bid writing, pricing, and tender submissions. The ideal candidate will also possess:
- Understanding of supporting structures and their design processes.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical handling equipment.
- Ability to interpret RFQs (Request For Quotes).
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings.
- Innovative, client-focused solutions provider.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD 2D (Autodesk AutoCAD 2018).
- Ability to use software for structural analysis and estimation.
The role is primarily office-based but will require travel within the UK and overseas for site visits and meetings.
Location: Ely, Cambridgeshire
Hours: Monday-Friday, 39 hours/week, with flexible start/finish times between 7 am and 6 pm.
