We have a Property Tax Financial Advisor position available for the right qualified person. This is a regular full-time position with a terrific benefits package and generous paid time off. Capital Area Community Services (CACS) offers Financial Advising for individuals in Ingham and Eaton Counties who are at risk of losing their property due to non-payment of property taxes. The goal is to assist taxpayers in fulfilling their property tax obligations while also attempting to avoid foreclosure for those who demonstrate that financial hardship contributed to their inability to pay. CACS Advisors help clients navigate through financial barriers and connects them with resources that help to save their homes. The Program Services are an innovative, effective, and efficient way to address the diverse needs of economically disadvantaged individuals with a full scope of services to prevent Property Tax Foreclosure. Services are centered around and developed through one-on-one sessions that focus on self-sufficiency and eliminating barriers. Partnerships with Governmental, Private Sector, and Non-Profit organizations are maximized to ensure participants multiple avenues for success. The person selected for this position must complete and pass the 45 hour counselor (advisor) training and certification program. Bachelor's degree related to the profession/position and 1-2 years of relevant experience is required with some experience in counseling/advising/coaching, social service delivery, social work, and/or family budget creation/management. Must have knowledge about credit, debt, money management and safe financial products and services. Typical Job Duties: Meet with clients individually at various locations throughout CACS' service area to develop action plans and conduct follow up appointments. Communicate with County Treasurer's office regarding Property Tax foreclosure clients. Collect, track, and report required information using FACSPro system; client management database. Provide detailed and timely reports weekly, monthly, and quarterly. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is required. Work cooperatively as part of the Service Center team to address needs of clients and meet program objectives and goals. Provide clients with links to wraparound stability support such as tax preparation, emergency services, benefits, etc. Work effectively and professionally with diverse low-income clients, determining program eligibility and providing services. Other duties as assigned. The education and skills listed above are guidelines for selection purposes; alternative qualifications may be substituted if sufficient to perform the duties.
