Property Maintenance Inspector (Part-Time)

Are you interested in a role that involves conducting fair and impartial inspections to uphold housing and property maintenance standards? As the part-time Property Maintenance Inspector for the City of Janesville, you'll collaborate with property owners and neighborhoods to address nuisance properties and housing violations. Your work will help protect property values and ensure that all our city's neighborhoods remain inviting and enjoyable for both residents and visitors.

Minimum Position Requirements/Qualifications

What qualifications are necessary for the role?
To perform the essential duties of the position, the minimum education and experience required includes:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in construction, public health, police or fire science, social services, housing, or closely related field from an accredited college or university is desirable.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in code enforcement, environmental sanitation, construction inspection, real estate management, property appraisal, human services or closely related field is required
  • A valid state-issued driver's license at time of hire is required.

A combination of equivalent experience, education, or professional training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position as determined by the Human Resources Office may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.

What is the pay?
The starting annual salary for this position is $25.31 per hour; this is a non-exempt positionThis position is also eligible for annual economic adjustments and performance-based adjustments, as approved by the City Manager.
