THE ROLE The Property Agent 1 will support the Farmland Preservation Program through the stewardship of farmland parcels that the CT Department of Agriculture has Purchased the Development Rights (PDR) on. The successful candidate will independently perform a full range of tasks in technical phases of conservation easement acquisition, monitoring, and stewardship of conservation easements. NOTE: This role does not require involvement with the appraisal of real property. Real estate appraisal courses, a current Connecticut Real Estate Appraiser license and either a residential and/or general appraiser certification are not required by this position. The Property Agent 1 can expect to: + Engage with farmers and farmland owners. + Conduct field investigations. + Read and apply property deed terms. + Work in Excel to calculate formulas. Review, and create Geographic Information System (GIS) maps, and apply learned knowledge to write stewardship monitoring reports. + Coordinate with and provide outreach to farmers, federal agencies, municipalities, non-profit land trusts, soil scientists, attorneys, and other organizations involved in farmland preservation, farmland access, and long-term land stewardship. + May also assist and periodically engage with the Connecticut Farmlink Program.
