Job Overview
The Project Surveyor, SIT, is responsible for drafting detailed drawings, to include boundary, right-of-way, and topographical surveys, profiles, cross sections, subdivision plats, property exhibits and other similar types of drawings and maps to be used for the transfer of real property, planning, development and design of civil engineering projects. This position will be responsible for managing and coordinating with field crews on current and upcoming projects and schedules.
Job Responsibilities
- Assists RPLS in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of Land Surveying duties.
- Prepares schedules and instructions for field staking and coordinates with the field crew as needed.
- Produce working sketches, produce topographic and ALTA surveys.
- Performs calculations and prepares CAD Drawings and other documents for various projects, including boundary, right-of-way, topographic, and title surveys, plats, easements, etc.
- Review title commitments and deeds.
- Conduct fundamental property research.
- Analyze field data and create final plats
- Occasionally performs field survey work as needed.
- Familiarity with the state plane coordinate system, geodetic calculations, and grid-to-surface calculations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience, and Education
- TBPELS Surveyor-in-Training Certificate (SIT).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Desire to obtain RPLS licensure.
- Two or more years' field experience.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, and MS Office.
- Preferred, not required, experience with Trimble Business Center software.
- Ability to review property boundaries and make recommendations on resolution to RPLS (boundary analysis recommendations).
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass a background check and a physical exam from a medical provider.
Working Conditions
- Driving to and from various project sites when necessary.
- In-office, Monday through Friday.
