Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: The TRIO Talent Search Program is a federally funded grant program administered by the U.S. Department of Education. It is designed to support low-income, potential first-generation secondary students in completing high school and pursuing higher education. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock invites applications for a full-time, provisional position within the TRIO Talent Search Program.
This role is responsible for implementing strategies to enhance postsecondary access for eligible high school students. Key responsibilities include maintaining program administration records, facilitating tutoring and test preparation, and assisting with the accomplishment of newly revised competitive preference priorities (CPPs). This position operates under state and federal regulations as well as institutional policies.
Qualifications: Required Education and/or Experience: - Bachelor's degree
- A valid driver's license and a personal vehicle are required for travel
Preferred Education and/or Experience: - One (1) year of experience working with TRIO or similar populations
- Experience working with high school-aged persons; knowledge of educational, career, and personal development strategies
- Experience in working with disadvantaged populations; experience overcoming barriers similar to target populations
Job Duties and Responsibilities: - Identify and select eligible participants
- Assess and document students' academic, secondary, and postsecondary needs
- Develop workshops, conduct school visits, and deliver presentations
- Assist and coordinate and conduct college visit trips, including overnight trips
- Assist students and parents with postsecondary admission and financial aid applications
- Maintain database of student records and provide data entry
- Attain program objectives for assigned target area/school
- Prepare monthly, mid-year, and annual reports
- Manage procurement, travel, and personnel records for the program
- Assist with program implementation of new revised competitive preference priorities (CPPs) and objectives
- Track and disseminate follow-up data to all former program participants
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Ability to work outside normal office hours, including evenings and weekends
- Frequent in-state travel is required; use of a personal car for travel with mileage reimbursement
- Proficiency in website software and operations, WordPress, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Blackboard, and social media platforms
- Ability to utilize technology, social media, and database systems
- Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to program participants
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language to staff and students
- Ability to prepare and present oral and written information and reports
- Knowledge of campus academic programs and postsecondary student personnel services
- Experience working in outreach/supportive services and delivering presentations related to student success
- Must have the ability to frequently travel in-state and work outside normal office hours, including evenings and weekends
