Project Manager/Senior Project Manager
Office of Strategic Project Management
The Office of Strategic Project Management (OSPM) is accepting applications for a Project Manager/Senior Project Manager. The position will lead university-wide initiatives and developments that require project management leadership and coordination. As part of a matrix team, the position will use project management best practices in requirements gathering, project scheduling and milestone development, tracking and facilitating progress, communicating with stakeholders, and ensuring project deliverables are achieved
successfully. This role will focus on strategic initiatives and developments, as well as projects that improve administrative services. The successful candidate will interact with stakeholders and resources throughout the university.
Duties and Responsibilities

Project Manager

Execute Projects -

• Execute university-wide strategic projects and developments with a focus on operational excellence and improving business processes.

• Coordinate project initiation by assisting with idea vetting, feasibility review, business case development, and estimating resources.

• Participate in project planning activities, including identifying project milestones, developing work breakdown structures, and creating project schedules.

• Oversee project execution, project meetings, track progress, provide guidance.

• Identify risks and issues and escalate as appropriate.

• Ensure quality and timelines are adhered to, control scope, manage change.

• Verify completed projects are closed properly.

Promote Leadership in a Team Environment -

• Engage with groups throughout the university.

• Escalate issues as they occur.

• Communicate day-to-day with project participants, provide status reports and metrics, communicate progress with project sponsors, stakeholders, executive leadership, and the Project Management Office.

Ensure Excellent Customer Service and Continuous Improvement -

• Support continuous improvement in service and process management.

• Effectively assess ongoing and completed work to improve future efficiencies, formulating and recommending changes.

Senior Project Manager

Execute Projects

• Ensure completed projects are closed properly.

Provide Leadership in a Team Environment

• Collaborate with groups throughout the university.

• Escalate issues to project sponsors as they occur.

• Communicate day-to-day with project participants, provide status reports and metrics, communicate progress with project sponsors, stakeholders, executive leadership, and the Project Management Office.

Ensure Excellent Customer Service and Continuous Improvement

• Drive continuous improvement in service and process management.

• Use independent judgment to assess ongoing and completed work to improve future efficiencies,formulating and recommending changes.

Required Position Qualifications

Project Manager-

• Bachelor's degree in management, business administration, public administration, or a related field.

• Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience in project/program management.

Senior Project Manager-

• Bachelor's degree in management, business administration, public administration, or a related field.

• Five (5) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience.

• Demonstrated experience in project management.

• Project Management Professional certification or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Excellent communication and listening skills.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

• Team player and collaborative worker.

• Demonstrated facilitation skills, including the ability to facilitate diverse teams, manage change, and resolve conflict.

• Knowledge of fundamental project management processes, methodologies, tools, and techniques with a continuing willingness to learn.

• Commitment to excellent customer service.

• Working knowledge of business process improvement.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5010 - Business/Administrative Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. The budgeted salary range for the Project Manager position is $75,000-$85,000 and for the Senior Project Manager position is $85,000-$95,000. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements.
