JOB SUMMARY

The Project Manager is responsible for leading a wide variety of projects from conceptual design to implementation. These projects cover application development, infrastructure, security, hardware installation, upgrades, and deployment activities to ensure alignment with business goals and objectives.

NATURE AND SCOPE
  • Manage the planning, implementation, evaluation, testing support, and deployment/go-live phases of the project management life cycle using Waterfall methodology and/or Agile delivery practices.
  • Responsible for providing direction and oversight of all project management work with numerous internal and external teammates.
  • Responsible for working with various vendors to define deliverables and timelines for the project for contracting purposes.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of existing systems in use at TraPac terminals and offices.
  • Articulate and adapt to any business situation with confidence, insight, and experience to resolve project issues carefully and accurately.
  • Leader and highly effective people manager able to communicate project objectives, resolve technical or business process bottlenecks, and establish priorities for cross-functional project delivery teams clearly and concisely.
  • Adeptly support all project efforts proving oversight and guidance on scope management, capacity management, budget impacts, business and system impacts, project schedules, reporting, and collaboration management with stakeholders.
  • Adhere to enterprise-wide project/program management practices, governance standards, processes, and metrics.
  • Create and adhere to Communication Plan; document and resolve stakeholder or team concerns; and diligently report and mitigate Risks, Issues, and Dependencies to avoid impacts to quality and due dates established.
  • Ensure that all project tracks are proceeding according to timelines, meeting deadlines and expectations, and adhering to established operating parameters; negotiates changes in project resources as necessary to achieve objectives and timelines.
  • Maintains effective relationships with business partners at all levels of the organization to effectively manage the project work and ensure the program objectives are being met.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and support of company mission, vision, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards and the code of ethical behavior.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, project charters, risk log, meeting minutes, communication plans, and presentations. Define project scope with key milestones and goals.
  • Provide information to Senior Management by assembling and summarizing data, making presentation of findings, analysis, and recommendations on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis as required.
  • Foster communication between team members by conducting regular project meetings, delivering project status reports, and functioning as primary liaison between team leads.
  • Delegate project tasks based on team members' strengths, skill sets and experience levels.
  • Track project performance, report on project health and specifically analyze the successful completion of short- and long-term goals. Report on Department KPI's.
  • Track project progress and support project team members in accomplishing their tasks by target dates as needed to stay on course to meet (and exceed) expectations.
  • Develop plans for effective change management as needed with new implementations.
  • Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints and scope based on financial analysis.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of quality and delivery.
  • Identify performance gaps, prioritize optimization efforts, and introduce improvements and innovations that impact results and enhance productivity and profitability.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
  • BA/BS degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Software/Computer Science Engineering, or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience within a fast-paced environment where you owned the project life cycle(s) from beginning to end.
  • Prior shipping terminal and/or logistics industry experience.
PREFERRED
  • MBA /MS in Industrial Engineering, Software/ Computer Science Engineering.
  • PMP Certified Project Manager.
  • 5-10 years of project management experience.
SKILLS AND APTITUDES
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the PMBOK processes, Agile Scrum Development, SDLC/Waterfall.
  • Ability to manage and facilitate the execution of multiple concurrent projects and deliver on time and within budgetary requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbally and in writing. The ability to demonstrate active listening and customer care.
  • Familiarity with Office suite.
  • Technical awareness: the ability to match resources to technical projects appropriately.
  • Quick learner and adaptable, can pivot when needed to
  • Superior leadership, presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Creates and drives a culture that is solutions-focused, builds cooperation, encourages teamwork, and resolves conflict effectively.
  • Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures, including the ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Identifies and analyzes problems, sorts through information to identify accuracy, and evaluates solutions and alternatives, resulting in making effective recommendations.
  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for managers and staff members across the organization.
