Interim Project Manager - Housing Major Works
Location: Romford (with flexible working arrangements)
Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:00
Contract Type: Interim

Are you an experienced project manager with expertise in housing and fire safety compliance? We are seeking a driven and knowledgeable Project Manager to join our Housing Major Works team on an interim basis. This critical role supports the safe and effective delivery of major construction projects, with a strong emphasis on fire safety and compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver capital works and refurbishment projects to housing stock, with a focus on fire safety improvements.

  • Manage the end-to-end project lifecycle, including engagement with multi-disciplinary consultant teams.

  • Ensure all works to higher-risk buildings are compliant with statutory and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide leadership in health and safety, quality assurance, and budgetary control.

  • Communicate effectively with residents, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

  • Attend weekly team meetings in Romford (every Thursday), with site and office attendance required as needed-up to five days per week.



Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience managing housing construction or refurbishment projects, ideally within a local authority or social housing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022, especially in relation to higher-risk buildings.

  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams including architects, engineers, and fire safety consultants.

  • Ability to work flexibly, while remaining fully available via phone during business hours and attending daily video calls with your line manager.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
