Position Summary:
The ideal Project Manager will oversee the full project lifecycle-from planning and execution to completion-of heavy civil construction projects. This candidate will bring proven experience in managing complex infrastructure work, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with contract specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all phases of heavy civil construction projects, from pre-construction through closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and work plans.
- Oversee subcontractors, suppliers, and self-performed work to ensure quality and performance standards are met.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, and stakeholders to resolve technical and logistical challenges.
- Manage contract administration, including change orders, RFIs, submittals, and payment applications.
- Identify and mitigate project risks to maintain progress and profitability.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, government agencies, and project stakeholders.
- Lead project team meetings and foster collaboration among all disciplines.
- Ensure accurate project documentation and reporting.
Qualifications/Preference:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Seasoned Project Engineer with 6-10+ years in heavy civil infrastructure, demonstrating readiness to step into full project management responsibilities.
- Proven track record managing transportation, water/wastewater, rail, or similar large-scale projects.
- Understanding of construction contracts, scheduling (Primavera P6), cost control, and risk management.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, HCSS HeavyBid).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel to job sites as needed.
