Compensation: $120,000 - $160,000, based on experience + full benefits

My client, a highly regarded and innovative engineering firm based in Chantilly, VA, is seeking a Project Manager to lead complex engineering design projects across a diverse portfolio. With a strong reputation in both federal and commercial markets, my client delivers mission-critical solutions in secure environments, energy efficiency, and infrastructure design.

This role is ideal for an experienced AEC professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is ready to lead multi-disciplinary teams from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead and manage engineering design projects across various scopes and sizes

  • Oversee technical, schedule, and budget components, ensuring alignment with contract scope

  • Coordinate and motivate internal teams and external stakeholders through all project phases

  • Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and client expectations

  • Monitor scope changes, resource allocation, and risk mitigation throughout the project lifecycle

  • Conduct post-project evaluations to assess outcomes, financial performance, and lessons learned

Client & Account Management

  • Serve as primary client contact, maintaining strong relationships and identifying future opportunities

  • Represent the firm in client meetings to ensure satisfaction, uncover additional project needs, and secure referrals

  • Contribute to business development and proposal preparation as needed

Financial & Contract Oversight

  • Manage project financials, including budgeting, invoicing, and job cost reporting

  • Collaborate with finance and accounting to ensure accurate billing and contract compliance

  • Track project progress using internal tools and ensure on-time delivery of invoicing and collections

Team Leadership & Development

  • Assign project roles based on team capabilities and project demands

  • Mentor junior staff and help cultivate professional growth within the team

  • Communicate changes and updates promptly and clearly to maintain project continuity

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Facilities, or related field - or 10+ years of relevant AEC project management experience

  • Proven track record managing multiple technical projects from initiation to closeout

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills; excellent communicator and problem-solver

  • Experience with project financials, cost control, and scheduling software

  • Familiar with staffing strategy and resource allocation best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active or eligible for Top Secret Clearance

  • PMP Certification (or in progress)

  • Familiarity with FAR and government contracting

  • Experience in proposal and cost development, particularly for public sector work

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and other PM tools

  • Background in multidisciplinary or secure government infrastructure projects
