University IT (UIT), part of the Business Affairs organization at Stanford University, is dedicated to deliver world-class service and technological solutions that support research, teaching, learning, administration, and healthcare.
This position reports to the UIT Project Management Office and joins a team of experienced technical project managers dedicated to executing a broad range of technology projects that are critical to the entire University. The project manager will work closely with the IT Infrastructure teams and manage a variety of IT Infrastructure projects such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager upgrade, VMware upgrade, Spok upgrade and Next Generation 911 project.
In addition, the project manager will have the opportunity to work on large and complex new building and renovation projects, supporting Land Building and Real Estate (LBRE), IT Infrastructure organization, and other teams within UIT while leveraging project management best practices to drive continuous improvement and ensure high-quality outcomes. They are expected to balance the interests of multiple stakeholders, act with professionalism, and exercise independent judgment and decision-making. The project manager will collaborate with LBRE, members from each UIT service group (A/V, Networking, Security, Voice, Video, etc.), and the UIT Card Services team to create and execute a consolidated project plan, ensuring IT deliverables remain on time, within budget, and aligned with the overall schedule.
The ideal candidate has a successful track record of delivering enterprise-wide IT infrastructure projects such as VoIP/telephony, networking (wired and wireless network and firewall), Audio Visual (A/V), mobile networking, and cabling infrastructure for new building and building renovations. It is important that the project manager is a good communicator, detail oriented, provides good meeting notes, has the ability to lead and guide the team and can easily assimilate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Desired experience includes a proven track record of motivating a diverse team, partnering effectively with sponsors and decision-makers, and identifying and efficiently managing project risks, while successfully managing projects to timely delivery and within budgetary expectations. The position typically consists of 80% time contribution towards project leadership and 20% as a technical contributor. The project manager is expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Your Responsibilities Will Include :
• Perform the full range of project management cycle: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing.
• Independently lead and direct projects requiring high levels of functional integration and involving multiple disciplines to be managed.
• Create project charter defining/shaping the project's scope, goals/objectives, solution approach, system integration and impact to other systems, project team organization, roles/responsibilities, risks and assumptions, project financials.
• Direct development of an action plan, and estimate requirements for resources, including management, labor, materials, and time required to complete projects.
• Create and implement project plans and work breakdown structures aligned with business and technical plans and directions; revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
• Manage stakeholder engagement that may be affected by changes to business processes, policies, and procedures related to the project implementation.
• Facilitate discussions and negotiations to drive recommendation and consensus.
• Develop and help execute comprehensive change management strategy and communication plan relative to project scope and stakeholders; orchestrate and lead change management methodologies underlying project success.
• Create, manage, and monitor the estimated project budget.
• Prepare and submit project documentation such as client proposals, progress reports, or other contractual requirements.
• Evaluate and assess metrics and project effectiveness, assess and proactively monitor and control risks, progress and trends impacting successful project delivery.
• Perform project management duties including: document and process change requests; monitor project scope, schedule, and budget, and report deviations and concerns to the project sponsors; Identify and manage project risks and issues, and develop strategies to mitigate them; perform and lead RFP/RFIs, vendor evaluation and selection; review and reconcile invoices; coordinate project closeout details.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience :
• Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of related experience in management of projects with extensive size/complexity and moderate performance risk, including project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting, or combination of education and relevant experience.
• Previous experience managing large IT infrastructure projects and building renovation projects. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
• Highly effective written and oral communication skills to address a wide variety of audiences.
• Ability to productively assemble, engage, and lead cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement components.

• Keen grasp of interpersonal and impact awareness.
• Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain needed to deliver projects.
• Proven experience managing multiple large IT infrastructure deployments in a complex and fluid environment.
• Understanding of basic telecom/VoIP mechanics (,e.g. VoIP, PBX, Call Manager, Contact Center, paging, TDM), Audio/Visual, Card Key and basic knowledge of service delivery and operation strongly desired.
• Experience with managing IT technical infrastructure components for new and/or updated buildings.
• Experience with developing and managing IT and construction budgets.
• Proven experience with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies strongly desired.
• Knowledge of project management tools and software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Proven experience in developing and maintaining complex and integrated project plans.
• Proven experience in people, change, risk, and conflict management is strongly desired.
• Proven ability to build relationships and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve results in a consensus driven environment strongly desired.
• Ability to lead and direct a team of internal and external technical and business staff and align technical needs with business goals strongly desired.
• Solid leadership, negotiation, persuasion, and facilitation skills are strongly desired.
• Ability to navigate stressful situations and make/negotiate decisions on complex problems strongly desired.
• Solid experience with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio) strongly desired.
• Knowledge and understanding of university operations, administration and community desired. Certifications and Licenses :
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certified completion of a Project Management Certificate program, or certification in process (to be completed within the first year of employment). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, and grasp lightly/fine manipulation and lift/carry /push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
• Occasionally stand/walk, write by hand.
• Rarely use a telephone, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulder, grasp forcefully.
