Our Wales & Short Sea Ports division is comprised of 16 specialist ports across East Anglia, the North West and Scotland and Wales and the South West. Through these ports we handle a huge range of products and customers including cruise & ferries, timber, dry bulks, building materials and metals. Due to an internal promotion, we're currently looking to recruit an experienced Project Engineering Manager to deliver projects across our 7 ports in the Wales and Short Sea region. You'll have a background in either Civil or Electrical Project delivery with values up to £20m, you should be degree qualified and ideally chartered or on the journey to chartership.

We have a number of projects across the region currently with a wide range of scope and values, these projects include new docking berths in Newport, new Substations in conjunction with National Grid and a Shore Power supply in Plymouth.

Accountabilities
- Safe and compliant execution of projects to Time, Quality, Cost and Risk from Concept through to Closure.

- Regular and timely project reporting enabling portfolio visibility, robust cash flow forecasting and risk management.

- Audit projects for compliance and delivery to the plan.

- Develop procurement strategies and project execution synergies, hence providing optimum value for money.

- Hold a full awareness of the 5-year business plan ensuring project sub-teams are adequately resourced to successfully deliver inline with Group policy, process and procedure.

- Alongside the Asset Management team, take an active role in developing the 5-year asset investment plans related to the creation, refurbishment and/or upgrade of the assets.

- Ensure alignment with Centre of Excellence and other senior project management colleagues across ABP.

- Mentor, coach and develop project team members both those employed as Project Engineers and employees delivering Capital spend within their port(s) / regions, e.g. Resource Engineering Managers.


Skills & Experience
- Educated to graduate degree level in and engineering discipline, ideally Civil or Electrical with relevant professional qualifications/professional body membership.

- Ideally be a member of a project management association.

- Proven track record of managing the delivery of projects across all aspects of the project lifecycle.

- Strong commercial acumen and working knowledge of forms of contract.

- Strategic, innovative, highly commercial and analytical

- The job holder needs excellent interpersonal, communication and relational abilities. Understands the link between engagement and performance.

- Strong drive for continuous improvement - never satisfied with the status quo

- Knowledge and experience of project management governance systems and continuous improvement in a regulated and/or safety critical industry.

- Experience of working with project management modules in an Enterprise Resource Planning system, ideally SAP.
