POSITION SUMMARY The Project Engineer supports the Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS) and STATEFARM programs by leading the planning, coordination, and execution of complex engineering activities across multiple technical domains. This role ensures effective integration, technical compliance, and delivery of mission-critical solutions that meet intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) requirements. Acting as the technical lead, the Project Engineer formulates engineering strategies, organizes project personnel by discipline, and directs efforts across system design, specification development, workflow optimization, testing, and site integration. The engineer also collaborates closely with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), software developers, and end users to ensure products meet operational needs, and advises leadership on opportunities for efficiency and continuous improvement. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Lead engineering planning, scheduling, and execution across DCGS and STATEFARM technical projects.
Organize and direct project teams by discipline and project phase (design, testing, installation, etc.).
Review technical outputs and ensure compliance with program specifications, DoD standards, and contract requirements.
Coordinate with OEMs and system integrators to ensure products and systems align with user requirements and operational workflows.
Provide recommendations to leadership on optimizing workflows and data flows within the C2ISR Division, considering impacts to training and documentation.
Collect and analyze operator feedback and translate it into actionable system improvements.
Maintain detailed project documentation, track milestones, and ensure cost and schedule performance.
Identify and resolve design, integration, and implementation issues across engineering functions.
Support operational testing, system validation, and readiness assessments.
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of documentation, training materials, and technical standards.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and field support teams.
EDUCATION/TRAINING Required: Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Preferred: Master's Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
Required Certification: IAT Level II (e.g., CompTIA Security+) or ability to obtain upon hire.
Preferred Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), DAWIA Level II/III in Engineering or Program Management.
EXPERIENCE Minimum 7 years of engineering experience, including project coordination, integration, and lifecycle sustainment in a DoD or intelligence community environment.
Strong understanding of system engineering principles, testing, and operational deployment of ISR or mission systems.
Experience collaborating with OEMs and government customers to meet contract deliverables and end-user expectations.
Familiarity with configuration management, technical documentation standards, and workflow optimization.
Background in Air Force or DoD engineering practices and C2ISR mission support preferred.
SKILLS/ABILITIES Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, resolve engineering issues, and drive solutions across technical phases.
Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings, workflows, and test data.
Proficiency in technical documentation, schedule tracking, and system-level performance metrics.
Ability to collaborate effectively with government stakeholders, technical peers, and support personnel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
Must be able to use a computer and related equipment for prolonged periods.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds occasionally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT This is an Onsite position with periodic travel
Onsite work is performed in a professional office environment or secure DoD facility at Warner Robins, GA.
Travel to government or contractor sites (CONUS and OCONUS) for testing, installation, or integration support are required (10-20%)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver's license.
Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening.
Must be able to pass random drug screenings.
Must possess and be able to maintain a Top Secret with SCI eligibility clearance.
Must be able to be cleared for base or site access.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must be available for a flexible work schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must possess a current U.S. Passport.
