Job Description: Project Engineer

We are an innovative, ambitious, and rapidly expanding technical asset management consultancy specializing in making existing buildings sustainable. Our expertise combines building services engineering with dynamic simulation modeling, energy engineering, and bespoke data analysis software. We work with global investment funds and property companies, managing over 1 million m 2 of predominantly commercial real estate assets, employing more than 20 staff.

Our head office is in the West Midlands, but many team members work remotely across the UK. Travel to the head office, including overnight stays for team meetings, is required approximately once every two months.

Role:

We are seeking a Project Engineer to lead the management of live projects across various MEP disciplines. Projects include refurbishment, fit-out, MEP plant installations (including PV and EV), and some new builds. This key role supports our growth strategy and involves contributing to business plans, recruitment, and client management. Progression opportunities are available for the successful candidate.

Responsibilities:
  • Understanding and accurately interpreting customer requirements.
  • Engaging with clients and participating in business development discussions.
  • Conducting survey works and contributing to feasibility reports and business cases.
  • Developing engineering designs aligned with sustainability and energy management targets.
  • Evaluating tenders and outlining project specifications.
  • Coordinating CDM processes and mobilizing projects from pre-construction to handover.
  • Assisting in delivering M&E services for refurbishments and new installations, ensuring projects meet timelines, budgets, and specifications, including commissioning and post-occupancy evaluations.
  • Completing inspections and final sign-offs to ensure smooth transition of projects into operational use.
Essential Skills:
  • An engineering degree with at least 3 years of engineering experience, or a non-cognate graduate with 3-5 years of experience and recognized engineering accreditations (e.g., CIBSE LCC/LCEA).
  • Membership of CIBSE, IMechE, or IET.
  • Strong mechanical engineering knowledge.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD M&E.
  • Understanding of UK construction contracts and processes.
  • A commitment to delivering engineering excellence with a focus on sustainability.
Desirable Skills:
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering and/or public health services.
  • Familiarity with BIM processes, including REVIT, COBIE, and IES dynamic simulation modeling.
