Laing O'Rourke (Expanded) is currently recruiting a Project Engineer for our Great Grid Partnership.

Laing O'Rourke has been appointed as the construction partner for National Grid's Great Grid Partnership.

Known terms: Site Agent / Project Manager

The Expanded Group offers comprehensive capabilities during the early construction phases of major projects, providing end-to-end solutions or tailored services. Supported by a central technical design and engineering team, we deliver a full range of techniques including piling, precast concrete, post-tensioning, and structures.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Utilize Digital Engineering models to create Visual Method Statements and Visual Task sheets; demonstrate confidence in sharing with team members.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with the Laing O'Rourke Management of Temporary Works procedure; communicate these procedures effectively.
  • Determine appropriate methods of dimensional control, consulting specialists as needed; ensure control over setting out data.
  • Interrogate and transfer setting out data from 3D CAD models.
  • Define scope for as-built surveys and reports to demonstrate compliance.
  • Produce and ensure availability of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring full adherence to specifications and contractual obligations.
  • Adhere to project and company quality procedures.
  • Recommend and utilize best engineering methods.
  • Knowledge of the design process.
  • Produce and approve method statements and risk assessments.
  • Manage procurement processes.
  • Manage a team of Senior Engineers, depending on the project.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or recognized technical/engineering qualification (e.g., HNC, HND, NVQ Level 4) with demonstrable construction delivery experience.
  • Approximately 8 years of experience in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience with structural projects.
  • Eligible to work in the UK / hold a valid UK visa.
