Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of construction projects. Under the leadership of the Project Manager and General Superintendent, the Project Engineer will play a vital role in overseeing daily operations, ensuring technical accuracy, supporting field staff, and maintaining budget and schedule compliance. This role is ideal for someone with strong organizational skills and a passion for civil construction. In order to be successful, this candidate should feel comfortable taking on many tasks that require various skills, and appropriately prioritizing those tasks' completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the liaison between the office and field operations, providing day-to-day project support
- Review project drawings, specifications, and related documents to ensure full understanding of project requirements
- Assist in preparing project budgets, schedules, and submittals
- Solicit and evaluate quotes from vendors and subcontractors
- Manage procurement of materials and subcontracted services
- Generate project-related spreadsheets to track job cost, invoices, and material yields
- Analyze job cost reports, daily production logs, and field diaries to help control costs
- Prepare and submit monthly billings in collaboration with field personnel and owner representatives
- Maintain up-to-date construction schedules and assist in progress monitoring
- Assist with preparing quarterly job cost projections for management review
- Assist with pricing, documentation, and coordination of change orders or claims
- Take a proactive role in identifying and resolving project-related issues
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager or General Superintendent
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
- Prior experience in heavy highway or civil construction strongly preferred
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work collaboratively with both office and field personnel
