Posting Details Position Information Job Title Project Engineer Posting Number S1459P Pay Range The compensation for this appointment will range from $40.00 to $45.00 hourly and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this staff appointment. Position Summary Information Summary Coordinates and administers the construction document workflow processes of both new University facilities and/or remodels to existing facilities in support of the University Project Management team. Assists with on-site coordination, inspections, surveys, quality control, and all aspects of project engineering. Regular supervision, management, and coordination of technicians, inspectors, consultants, and contractors, by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned. Review, collect, and report information on designs, drawings, plans, specifications, and submittals for projects, engineered systems, technical equipment, and components. Assist, or may take lead role, in the preparation, management, or modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, permits, and designs. Review, compile, track, and file project specifications, submittals, RFIs, plans, as-built documents, and close-out documents. Resolve design and construction technical issues with general contractor, project architect, or civil engineer in support of the project management team. Coordinate the collection and dissemination of project documentation between internal and external customers, contractors, subcontractors, and providers. Review and monitor project progress to assure continuing quality and adherence to requirements / specifications of contract documents, including visual inspection of project materials and equipment. Knowledge of MEP, structural, and civil systems design, along with various building and construction trades / disciplines. Monitor inspections, field testing, assessments, surveys and field engineering teams and consultants. Assist in preparation of construction cost estimates, budgets, and project projections; monitor, track, and trend same to achieve an "in budget" result. Assist in the analysis and review of reports, maps, building plans, site plans, and aerial photographs. Prepare photo documentation and site diary of all project activities. Facilitate, coordinate, and document project meetings. A valid California Driver License is required. Supervisory Responsibilities This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction and training to employees or Student Workers. Could be responsible for directing/coordinating with outside contractors. Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns. Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit; and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers, and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. Occasional physical activity; requires heavy lifting, pulling objects up to 15 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or 4 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and construction or building trade field and project experience and in working with multiple discipline projects. AutoCAD, BIM, and Bluebeam experience highly desirable. BATC / OSHA Safety Training. REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/PERMITS: Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
