Optomi in partnership with a liquid handling company is looking for a Project/Process Engineer to join their team. Projects span the full lifecycle-from initial process design through equipment procurement, installation, and commissioning. The team wears many hats and thrives on solving complex fluid handling and process challenges with practical, customer-focused engineering solutions

Responsibilities of the Right Candidate:

  • Lead and manage 2-3 active process equipment projects, with oversight of up to 10 projects in various stages
  • Participate in process and mechanical design using AutoCAD
  • Size and specify pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, piping, and mixers
  • Coordinate equipment purchasing and oversee logistics
  • Manage installation and on-site commissioning of process systems
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for daily customer communication and updates
  • Work with control panel and automation teams to ensure seamless system integration
  • Support the sales process with technical insights and site visits as needed
  • Collaborate with in-house R&D to improve product and system performance

Qualifications of the Right Candidate:

Core Experience and Abilities:

  • 3-10 years of mechanical or chemical engineering experience, ideally in capital projects or process systems
  • Proven ability to manage project timelines, budgets, and customer expectations
  • Strong communication skills and experience working directly with customers
  • Willingness and ability to travel (average 25%, peaks up to 50%)

Core Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with pump sizing, heat exchanger sizing, pipe/tank design, and liquid handling systems
  • Hands-on experience with system commissioning, mechanical troubleshooting, and field work
  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
  • Background in sanitary process equipment (pharma, food/bev, etc.) is a strong plus
