About the role
Our client is seeking a Design Engineer/Project Manager with a background in mechanical or chemical engineering to join their dynamic team. Reporting directly to the President, this role is critical in supporting their efforts to deliver innovative solutions in the recycling and waste industries. Key Responsibilities
Technical Design & Quoting
- Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings using CAD software to support project planning and client proposals.
- Prepare accurate and competitive quotes for customers, factoring in equipment specifications and project requirements.
- Work closely with vendors and internal teams to ensure the feasibility and accuracy of designs and quotes.
Client Engagement
- Present technical solutions to clients in a clear and compelling manner during meetings, presentations, and demonstrations.
- Act as a technical advisor for the sales team and clients, addressing inquiries and providing tailored recommendations.
Technical Learning & Application
- Develop deep knowledge of our equipment, including its technical specifications, capabilities, and applications.
- Learn and understand plastic recycling processes, waste management systems, and related technologies to provide expert guidance to clients.
Collaboration & Teamwork
- Collaborate with the sales team to identify and implement innovative solutions for customer needs.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including service, engineering, and project management, to ensure seamless project execution.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a sales engineering role or a similar technical sales/support position is a plus.
Skills & Requirements
- Proficiency in CAD software for creating 2D and 3D drawings (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, chemical processes, and/or industrial equipment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in an accessible way.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an eye for detail.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within teams and across departments.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Mandatory in-person presence at the South Charlotte office (moving to Rock Hill, SC in 2025).
