Job purpose
To support Senior Engineers in developing earthing and lightning protection designs and evaluations for a wide range of installations, ensuring the safety of workers and the public. Responsibilities include site testing, project management, and mentoring graduate and junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities and accountabilities
- Develop earthing and lightning protection designs for various project types.
- Collaborate with experienced lead and senior Engineers.
- Stay updated with relevant standards and requirements.
- Produce EMF and AC interference studies for power transmission projects.
- Conduct Impressed Voltage studies to advise on safe working practices near HV equipment.
- Create 2D CAD drawings using AutoCAD.
- Perform site testing such as soil resistivity and earth impedance measurements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualifications: Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: Experience with HV networks and earthing systems preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CAD experience advantageous. Training provided. Opportunity for role development and progression towards Chartered Engineer status.
