About Cleantek

We're Cleantek, a wholly-owned subsidiary of EV Range, driving the future of EV infrastructure. We partner with leading organizations to push the boundaries of what's possible, delivering top-tier engineering and construction solutions for EV charging sites. From powering ports and school fleets to designing high-power hubs for major names, we're behind some of the industry's most ambitious projects. If you're passionate about innovative design, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to put your experience and expertise to work building future-ready EV solutions, we want you on our team.

Position Overview

As a Project Design Engineer at Cleantek, you will manage the design and development of EV charging station projects in parking lots and parking structures, with a focus on both civil and electrical engineering disciplines. You'll oversee external engineering consultants while also producing portions of the design work yourself-particularly construction drawings for permitting and build-out. Success in this role requires hands-on experience in creating complete construction plan sets, familiarity with regulatory requirements (including NEC, ADA, and local codes), and the ability to guide projects from site assessment through permit approval and construction.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development

  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software to develop detailed civil and electrical site designs for EV charging stations.
  • Create and refine technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for permitting and construction.
  • Ensure all designs meet project requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Conduct site feasibility studies, considering factors like ADA compliance, electrical capacity, and future scalability (e.g., additional chargers, BESS, or solar).
  • Research and implement best practices for EV infrastructure design.

Project Coordination & Execution

  • Work closely with engineers, drafters, and stakeholders to ensure designs align with project goals and site conditions.
  • Coordinate with survey crews, manage site development tasks, and oversee project scheduling.
  • Conduct site visits to validate design feasibility, gather field data, and assess site constraints.
  • Provide construction support, responding to RFIs, and working with the construction team to ensure designs are properly executed during implementation.
  • Keep up-to-date with technologies and work closely with preferred vendors to select the appropriate hardware based on features, availability, local compliance, and cost.

Permitting & Compliance

  • Prepare and review permit drawings for submission, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Manage submittals and address comments, changes, and requests from regulatory agencies, utilities, and AHJs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in project management systems.

Process & Quality Improvement

  • Develop and refine Cleantek's standard operating procedures, design guidelines, and engineering standards for EV infrastructure.
  • Identify and resolve design issues before and during construction.
  • Support the development of internal systems and processes to improve efficiency and project delivery.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, Project Management, Construction, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience: 3+ years in civil and electrical design, preferably in EV infrastructure or a related field, with AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of NEC code, ADA standards, civil design, and high-power EV charging architecture,
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, coordinate teams, and ensure timely execution.
  • Communication: Strong collaboration skills with engineers, drafters, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Travel: Clean driving record and ability to travel to project sites.

Preferred

  • FAA drone pilot's license
  • Experience with photogrammetry software to generate base maps.

Compensation

  • Salary: $60,000 - $100,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Benefits: Health, dental, and vision coverage after 90 days, and competitive PTO.
